九州の地方都市でタクシー運転手として働く男が、客を求めて霊園付近へ向かったことから、不穏な出来事に巻き込まれていく話である。
車内に漂う線香の匂いとともに現れた女は、行き先を告げるだけで終始無言のまま、異様な気配を残し続ける。
やがて辿り着いた先で起きた不可解な出来事と、その後に明らかになる事実が、静かな恐怖を引きずるように広がっていく。
日常と死の境界が曖昧に交差する、不気味な余韻を残す一編である。

学生時代、格安のアパートに住んでいた語り手は、建物の一階にある裏口の部屋から、不定期に響く異様な叫び声に気づく。
その声は短時間で収まるためやり過ごしていたが、ある夜だけは長く続き、苛立ちに駆られて原因を確かめに向かうことになる。
しかし、部屋の前まで近づいたことで、得体の知れない不気味さに気づき、思わず引き返してしまう。
その直後、自室の前で聞いたはずのない声が響き、静かな日常は大きく揺らぎ始める怪談である。

大学時代、仲の良い6人で過ごしていた英会話サークルに、物静かな少女・めぐみがいた。
ある夜の帰宅後をきっかけに、彼女の母親を名乗る人物から奇妙な電話が頻繁にかかってくるようになる。
内容は次第にエスカレートし、理不尽で不気味な言葉が仲間たちを追い詰めていく。
やがて明かされる過去と、電話の正体にまつわる違和感が、日常の裏に潜む異様さを浮かび上がらせる物語である。
