浮嶽神社はJR福吉駅近くのまむし温泉から少し坂道を登ったところにあります。
この神社に保管してあるのが九州で最も古いとみられる仏像です。
仏像は如来立像、地蔵菩薩、伝・薬師如来像、そして阿弥陀如来像の4体です。
そして、海岸を東へ出て櫻井神社を歩きました。
ここの楼門や拝殿、本殿は重要文化財の指定をうけていて、実に見事なものでした。

糸島の可也山のふもと、引津湾に面したところに、敷地面積150坪程の｢万葉の里植物園｣はあります。
ここには、万葉集に歌われた草花が植えてあります。
万葉集には4516首の歌が登場しますが、その中で草花が出てくるのが200ほどで、その中で糸島にある万葉集の草花は50首ほどだそうです。
引津湾には、大宰府の観世音寺創建の際、中国から仏像を運び、一時保管たしたという寺もあります。
万葉集の中に登場する花で一番多いのが萩、そして二番目が梅だそうで、どこか、大宰府との深いつながりも感じます。

雷神社は神宮皇后が朝鮮半島に出兵する時、戦勝を祈願したところ。
神社は巨大な木が多く、中には樹齢1000年を超える木もありました。
その神社へ上がってくる途中にある雷山千如寺大悲王院の大楓の紅葉も仏像と同じようにすばらしいものがありました。

石人山古墳の入り口近くにあるのが資料館。
入口に、近くにある弘化谷古墳の彩色壁画と彫刻文様の複製が展示してあります。
壁画は横2メートル、縦1メートル50センチ程のもので、大きな赤い円や、黒の三角形などの文様がたくさん描かれているのがわかります。
それに、全国的にも大変珍しい双脚輪状文という、塩を吹いた鯨を横にしたような､文様が描かれたいます。
