大宰府政庁跡を背にして広がる通りが朱雀大路です。少し歩くと御笠川に出ます。
この御笠川からは１９８２年に重さ７．５トンもある巨大な礎石が見つかっています。
上流から流れてきた痕跡もないということから、もともとここにあったのでは、とみられています。
このことから、この辺に官庁に入るための南の正門、朱雀門があったとみられています

大宰府の官衙を歩いています。不丁という地区がありました。
不思議の不に丁と書きますが、かつては大宰府の府に官庁の庁と書いたそうでどうやら、地名からみてもこの辺は官庁街だったのでは、とみられています。
近くには大宰府政庁跡が見えてきます。

九州の国々から税を徴収した蔵の司に入りました。
背丈と同じくらいの雑草の中に礎石がちらりと見えました。
かつて、ここには巨大な建物があったとみられています。
税を蓄える倉庫から外国の客を接待したとみられる建物まであったとみられているのです。
