  • Serendipitous

Is how it would feel if Tyler had a photo of the aforementioned leprechaun trap he made. Either way, awesome to know someone else also made one at a younger age.

Excellent podcast. Thank you for the delightful listen!

I have been a fan of mark for years and turned to GMFST after Distractible. I really enjoy Tyler and his passion for sports. There’s complaints about the discussion of politics but politics impact athletes in significant ways. It’s important to talk about the state of our country and i love hearing Tyler’s engaging commentary as well as how it relates to athletes of all backgrounds and sports. This pod has allowed me to reminisce on my years of playing sports. Keep up the great work GMFST!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Journey to the Majors | Trevor May
Q: How does he balance being a professional athlete with building a media presence online?
Trevor discusses turning a passion for gaming, streaming, and TTRPGs into content opportunities, leveraging his baseball audience to explore storytelling, and using his platform to illustrate the nerdy, math-loving side of sports. He emphasizes authenticity and longevity, choosing projects he genuinely enjoys and integrating his sports career with creative outlets rather than letting one define him entirely.
Journey to the Majors | Trevor May
Q: What were some pivotal moments in his development as a player?
Key moments include the decision to focus on pitching during high school, a standout senior year with back-to-back no-hitters and a dominant playoff run, the emotional growth triggered by a coach's and teammates' reactions, and the plateau-busting experience of pitching deep into games with a high pitch count. He also shares the moment when a 'bloodlust' mental shift occurred on the mound, helping him balance intensity with control.
Journey to the Majors | Trevor May
Q: What's the story behind Trevor May, the baseball player turned content creator, streamer, and podcaster?
Trevor describes a lifelong love of sports shaped by a family history in basketball, a small-town upbringing, and early exposure to both basketball and baseball. He explains how stories from his dad inspired visualization and confidence before games, how he specialized in pitching in high school and college, and how his career evolved from the minors to the majors, including the emotional rollercoaster of draft day and the intense, focused mindset he adopts on the mound.
Iron Lung Athleticism
Q: How did the production handle the heavy, equipment-driven set and safety during moving-rig shots?
They used a carefully choreographed rig system with skilled stunt personnel and multiple safety checks, ensuring every angle was captured while the crew managed pulleys, ropes, and the shifting platform, and the actor stayed within padding and protective measures to prevent injury.
Iron Lung Athleticism
Q: What was the hardest part of the production beyond general endurance?
The hardest part was the end-stage sequence where the actor was physically hampered and confined, making it almost impossible to do anything; this required waiting in a hot, restricted setup and relying on a restrained, methodical approach to finish the scene while staying safe.
