杉林區（臺灣客家語南四縣腔：cam limˇ ki／cam naˇ kiˊ；臺灣話：Sam-nâ-khu），舊稱「楠梓仙」、「山杉林」，前身「杉林鄉」，位於台灣高雄市東北部，北接甲仙區，東連六龜區，南接美濃區、旗山區，西鄰內門區，西北連臺南市南化區。清治時期被稱為楠梓仙，日治時期明治34年（西元1901年）改為現名。區內居民以客家人居多（約佔全區63%）[1]，亦有閩南和原住民族群。

內門區（臺灣話：Lāi-bûn-khu），舊稱「羅漢內門」，前身「內門鄉」，位於台灣高雄市東北部，境內多為山坡地，平地極少，東北連杉林區，東南連旗山區，西北連臺南市龍崎區、左鎮區、南化區，西南接田寮區，氣候上則屬亞熱帶季風氣候。經濟產業上主要為農業與畜牧業，另由於內門區也有不少居民為從事辦桌服務的廚師，有「總舖師之鄉」的美稱[1][2]。
