小說家洛夫克拉夫特的名言說「人類最古老而強烈的情緒，便是恐懼；而最古老最強烈的恐懼，便是對未知的恐懼。」
我覺得可以套用在所有的恐怖遊戲第一輪，第一輪永遠是最恐怖的，即便是惡靈古堡，雖然有人會說「恐懼來自於火力不足」，這句話我覺得只對一半，遊戲給予玩家一定的反擊手段，其實也是給玩家一種生存的資源，可以合理的把未知的敵人設定的更具侵略性或是可以增加敵人數量。
而惡靈古堡的癥結點在於，過了幾代後，系列玩家已經熟知他的套路，使得從未知的恐怖情緒轉變成「我倒要看看你還有什麼招」的感覺在玩 所以456代就做了一次大轉變，78代又做了一次改變

聽了講解暗黑破壞神2重製版的這一集，有許多設計真的因為沿用二十年前的系統，而使現代玩家有比較高的學習門檻。
不過作者不知道有沒有玩過會聽說過近年來頗為熱門的魂系遊戲以及其他受到魂系啟發的遊戲，我覺得多少都有受到暗黑破壞神甚至更早的啓蒙遊戲-博得之門的影響。
而魂系遊戲的熱門也代表還是有一群玩家是喜歡這種硬核、黑暗、學習門檻高以及古典的遊戲。
而暗黑三，不要說到有什麼創新，基本上在同類型遊戲也不是佼佼者了，由目前釋出的暗黑四資料來看，應該會走回經典博得之門/暗黑的美術風格。
