Thank you for this series. I took French in high school for 3 years. That was 25 yrs ago 🫤 Your podcast has been a fun way to bring back all that knowledge. Jacob’s approach is praiseworthy, and I do appreciate his desire to dive deep into the grammar rules (I like to do the same), even though there may be easier, lower-hanging fruit to learn. I am always happy to see a new episode pop up in my feed. Keep it up you two!
I'm a complete beginner at French, but this podcast leads me through all the important topics in a sensible order, which makes learning so easy! Mega shout-out to the leaflets too (can't click the link here, but accessible through Spotify/official website), because you basically don't have to memorise anything. Both Jacob and Claire have super lovely voices to listen to, which is a great bonus.

The show centers on practical French language learning through a friendly, conversational format led by two regular hosts who pair explicit grammar explanations with real-time practice. Across episodes, listeners watch a progression from foundational topics (gerunds, pronouns like en/y, reflexive verbs) to more complex tenses (imperfect, passé composé, near future) and narrative storytelling segments that reinforce usage in everyday situations. Materials such as downloadable leaflets, Google Docs, and occasional video content are consistently referenced, suggesting a highly structured, classroom-like approach delivered in a casual, approachable tone. A notable hook is the ongoing pairing of a learner-host dynamic with a native French-speaki... more
