  • Great host and guests!

A good podcast - IMHO - is one in which you find you want to be part of the conversation. Frame by frame had me interjecting my own thoughts and questions (out loud) while engaging me to think about a subject that I might not ordinarily think about. The passion of the guests is what really struck me the most - their knowledge and the way it was delivered makes the whole subject approachable!

Why Gonadal Shielding in X-rays Actually Increases Radiation Dose
Q: Have you seen practices shifting and changing since your study?
Yes, the medical physics community has actively moved to change policies based on the research findings.
Why Gonadal Shielding in X-rays Actually Increases Radiation Dose
Q: Can you walk us through what led to that research and what you found?
The research stemmed from questioning the effectiveness of gonadal shielding and finding that it may increase radiation doses instead.
Radiology AI Reality Check: Automated Reports, Implementation Failures and Agentic Future
Q: What do you think the biggest barrier to implementing GEN-AI and radiology is right now?
The barriers are multifactorial, including hallucinations in AI, regulatory clarity, and liability issues that remain unclear as no FDA-cleared devices use large language models yet.
Radiology AI Reality Check: Automated Reports, Implementation Failures and Agentic Future
Q: What makes you feel confident that that level of automation is coming, and what needs to happen to implement it safely in a real department?
The technology already exists for automated reporting in chest X-rays and CT exams, but it must generate accurate reports, be integrated into radiologist workflows, and provide meaningful insights that consider previous exams.
Balancing Crisis & Care: Life as a Medical Physicist with William Breeden
Q: If you could change something or fix something instantly in the imaging sphere, what would you change right now?
I would make sure every hospital administrator understands the importance of medical physicists and what we do to support patient care.
