If you’re watching Chief of War this podcast is a must listen to connect the dots between the people and culture that this story is born from
This podcast offers much needed explanation to numerous scenes in the show. I’m versed in Hawaiian history, and had to go back to historical accounts to understand many of the scenes. I like how the hosts weave Hawaiian history with the show’s need to drive the plot - which compresses the timeline, plays with relationships, and modifies historical figures & some of their actions. Maika’i!
Love this podcast! Enjoyed the discussions and different perspectives of this u’i production of Hawaiian history. Look forward to more episodes.
I enjoyed the discussion especially because I was surprised at how brutal Kahekili was portrayed. Will we be removing his name from the Oahu highway? And the show also called the Ali’i of O’ahu ‘the boy king.’ I’d never heard Kahahana referred to that way.
I hope future episodes will deal more with the brains not just the brains of the Hawaiian people and chiefly classes
