佛陀偈語先點破「貪執」是眾苦之源，再鼓勵比丘忍耐乞食等外艱難、精進向內修心，並說明持戒能自然感召福慧善緣。最後指引他們在日常生活間保持正念、安住禪定，方能心得自在。七比丘因受佛陀威德與真理震撼，悔悟重返深山，依偈專修，終證聖果。 more
〈妒海沉淪－富蘭迦葉與獼猴王宿世因緣記〉
「妄證求賂，行已不正，怨譖良人，以枉治世，
罪牽斯人，自投於坑。如備邊城，中外牢固，
自守其心，非法不生，行缺致憂，令墮地獄。」
嫉妒、自大、誹謗、貪求名利這些「心行不正」的行為，會像無形的鎖鏈一樣，將人拉向自我毀滅的深淵。真正的防護不在於外在的競爭或辯駁，而在於像守護邊城一樣，嚴密地守護自己的心念，從根源上斷絕惡業的產生。一切外在的災難（如投水、墮獄）都是內在罪業（不正的心與行）必然招致的結果。
