This is like Good Omens, if Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett were better at writing female characters. Sam Russell has found quite interesting ways to combine mythologies that create an “of course!” sort of response. His value of friendship (also clear from his comedy work with his friends in Shoot from the Hip) shines in how his characters support and motivate each other.
As someone who has always loved myths, religion, and fantasy, this is an amazing book. I am on my third relisten, and it is so good. Honestly, just amazing. I would absolutely listen to anything else this guy posted :)
Such a unique and intriguing storyline with so many moments that made me audibly gasp, I absolutely loved listening to this! Great voice acting by Catherine Russell, and all the little sound effects really helped to make it so immersive. Each episode I was torn between wanting to listen to more, but - especially in the later chapters - also not wanting it to end.
