TMNT Cover Artist Matt Flint
Q: What future projects are you excited about?
I'm working on a Kaiju Western called 'A Gorilla to a Gunfight' with a heroine named Penny and her giant gorilla partner Moki; I also plan to develop a Mona Lisa-inspired ensemble and a new alien-centered book called Danny, set in a retrofuturistic Earth.
TMNT Cover Artist Matt Flint
Q: What was the process behind the 148 cover and the Pandacon easter eggs?
The 148 cover came together after studying IDW's covers and a rule book that never arrived; I included Easter eggs like Alfred from Batman and a Pandacon cameo, which ultimately couldn't be officially used but became a point of pride in the print edition.
TMNT Cover Artist Matt Flint
Q: Which artists or styles influenced your turtle designs the most?
I draw from a mix of Dan Duncan, Mateus Santaluco, Joe Madureira, Chris Bocciolo, Trent Kanegara, Adam Warren, and later influences like Michael Turner and J. Scott Campbell to create a rounder, more kinetic look that still feels like TMNT.
TMNT Cover Artist Matt Flint
Q: What's your origin point with Ninja Turtles, and where do you entering the Turtle world?
I started with the cartoon and Archie-era comics, gradually discovering the deeper lore; the cartoon was the initial gateway, followed by the Archie comics which I loved for their art style even if the stories were hard to follow.
Epic Tales of Cartoons with Aaron Hazouri
Q: Do you keep a list of box art you've designed, and how does the work get credited?
Most box art is digital now; some early work was done on paper, and while some pieces are credited, many designs pass through team efforts and internal approvals.
