Erased from the pages of time, these cultures discovered and charted the heavens, developed earth-centric sciences and unleashed advancements that parallel and, in many cases, surpass our own. 4.6 out of 5 stars from 5.2k ratings
  • Rewriting History

In the Popol Vu episode the host defends priest Diego and thinks he may have only culturally committed genocide against the Maya by burning their writings. How dare you rewrite history and cover the truth that there was a genocide! So many Maya died and were tortured by this priest and you were surprised that he served time in prison and shouldn't have. I do not trust that this show actually reports historical facts.

Jack Kelley: The Atlantis Puzzle, Part 2
Q: Why don't we find more documents on Atlantis?
Probably because any written records from that time have not survived, and Plato likely took an existing myth and put his spin on it.
Jack Kelley: The Atlantis Puzzle, Part 2
Q: Do we have any sense at all of the level of sophistication that the Atlanteans had?
There are descriptions of transcontinental trade, and the understanding of astronomy and navigation implies a level of sophistication in ancient cultures.
Jack Kelley: The Atlantis Puzzle, Part 2
Q: What would be the causation for Atlantis's demise?
It was likely an earthquake or a flood that covered the city, rather than a continent sinking as earlier interpretations suggested.
Jack Kelley: The Atlantis Puzzle, Part 2
Q: What physical evidence has been found?
There have been archaeologists who found stone tools dating back to pre-10,000 BC, indicating ancient people lived in that area over long periods.
Jack Kelley: The Atlantis Puzzle, Part 2
Q: Was this always in the mix when you started the documentary, or did it just come out from the work that you produced in the documentary?
The research that went into the film asked to be brought out in a book format, as there was a lot of interesting content that had to be left out of the film.
