  • Edited Interviews

It just sounds like the interviews have the questions edited back in while being read. It doesn’t sound like natural conversation. Interviews like this make it harder to listen for me. Good content though.

  • Great content and great questions from Randy

For anyone considering subscribing- do so. I've learned a lot from Randy's podcasts and have been lucky enough to be interviewed as well. Randy obviously does a lot of thinking about the topic which he is interviewing on, and asks insightful questions. Interviewing for podcasts is a fine art, especially when doing it on opposite sides of the world, and Randy's format works well.

  • Captivating!

I look forward to every episode of the Drone Radio Show. Randy chooses some really fascinating people to interview who show up with a wide-ranging set of skills and knowledge. From a researcher at Duke University who defines the difference between an automated drone and an autonomous drone to people who started their own businesses and shared tips and tricks, his guests will make a listener's day more interesting. Highly recommended.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

What Happens When GPS Disappears? - Matt McCrann, U.S. CEO of SPARC AI
Q: Beyond GPS-denied navigation, how does Overwatch interact with other safety and control layers like geofencing?
Overwatch remains agnostic to geofencing layers and provides the most accurate positioning to ensure those rules are implemented correctly, while also enabling detection of spoofing and seamless fallback to the trusted Overwatch layer when external data is compromised.
What Happens When GPS Disappears? - Matt McCrann, U.S. CEO of SPARC AI
Q: Matt, tell us about Sparc Ai. What does the company do?
Sparc Ai is a defense-tech company that has developed the Overwatch software, a geospatial intelligence and assured positioning layer that is hardware-agnostic and integrates with existing drone sensors to enable navigation, passive geolocation, and drift correction in GPS-denied environments.
Next Level Integration of Drones into Public Safety: Ryan Bracken, Versaterm
Q: What are the key factors that determine whether a drone program will succeed or fail early on?
Focus on a strong why behind the program, executive buy-in, and ensuring the rest of the agency views the drone as a productive asset; success is measured by outcomes and how information is consumed within the department, not merely by flight hours.
Next Level Integration of Drones into Public Safety: Ryan Bracken, Versaterm
Q: How does the integration work from the dispatcher's perspective?
The dispatcher can request a drone directly within their CAD, which then flows to DroneSense and to the pilot; the drone's status and location feed back into Versaterm CAD, allowing coordinated response without extra radio calls.
Next Level Integration of Drones into Public Safety: Ryan Bracken, Versaterm
Q: What does Versaterm do and how does the company fit into drone integration for public safety?
Versaterm is a public safety software company that provides CAD, records management, and other incident-response tools; they are integrating drones by embedding DroneSense into their CAD/dispatch workflows so drones can be requested, tracked, and used as an integrated resource alongside traditional public safety assets.
