臺東縣文化處去年創刊《海海臺東》（南島誌），以免費書刊形式介紹南島及太平洋文化，與當代生活息息相關的議題，可向文化處、百大文化基地、書書果實閱讀平台（臺東獨立書店聯盟）索取。今年9月30日發刊的第四期內容，以航海專題領航，介紹近年來發生在太平洋與臺東的重大舟船故事，以及各式各樣的南島話題，10月4日將在都蘭糖廠舉辦「南島生活市集」同時也是新一期書刊的發表會。

在斜坡上走路，要記得彎腰屈膝！一年一度的南方草草節在9月18至22日，於臺東縣達仁鄉拉裡吧部落舉行。這個知名度越漸升高的地方性慶典活動，過去以沿岸的金崙部落為主場，此次是難得大規模移地在「斜坡上」的部落辦理，意義非凡。以大武山為聖山的排灣、魯凱等原住民族，自稱Kacalisian（斜坡上的人），世代居住在沿南迴地區各條溪流兩岸、往深山裡綿延，也形塑成其獨特的斜坡文化。本屆草草節依舊包含工藝見學、大師對談、走讀、市集與演唱會等多元的內容，更首度舉辦以傳統木雕為題的南方藝術獎，企圖體現傳統工藝轉譯在... more
從東海岸大地藝術節第一屆（2015）年開始，即提出「開放工作室」的概念，用以串連東海岸各藝術工作室與創作者，不只是敞開私密的創作空間、其實也敞開溝通交流的情懷。主持台11藝術工作室的織品藝術家高敏書，是藝術節開放工作室計劃的全勤生，11年來從未缺席，且每年都秀出不一樣的創意，舉辦活動、展覽或市集，讓藝術貼近生活、生活即藝術的東海岸精神展現無遺。「生活在臺東要有足夠的韌性」敏書說，不僅經得起氣候、環境挑戰的毅力，還要有串聯、互助的社群（community）力，活出漂亮。
