While wrestling has really changed, you guys bring back so of the ‘good old days’ - having started to watch back in the late 70’s when Vinny was just a weird looking interviewer on midnight airings of WWF from MSG on WPIX - your work reminds me of those interviews as Albano, Blassie, and the Grand Wizard had to speak for the brooding bad guys… and the ‘good guys’ muddled through their interviews trying to stay in character - they were what got me hooked and now you bring it all back to life!!! It seems as though that there wasn’t that much content that made it to the cutting room floor. The vast majority of the content of the podcast is filibustering and maybe a couple minutes of actual cut content from the TV show.
The interview clips are informative but none of the hosts are funny enough to talk over the clips. Good content, but the Mystery Science Theater 3000 portion of the show takes away from its true value.
I only know these guys from this podcast - not The Lapsed Fan podcast. But, especially after the Kevin Sullivan episode, I’ve noticed how much these guys LOVE to say they don’t watch today’s product. “We’re too cool to watch dumb WWE. We’d never dare watch AEW.” Yet, they know everything going on. I mean, you can say you still watch. It’s fine. You can drop the gimmick of lapsed fans.
They take 15 minutes worth of quotes from various wrestlers and stretch them into
45-60 minutes of rambling about them
Key themes from listener reviews, highlighting what works and what could be improved about the show.
