Sima responds to a listener email and bids farewell to season two.
Sima gets together with her college pal Vika Teicher to talk about both West Side Story films. Spoiler alert: it turns out Vika is the love child of Tony and Maria.
Sima and Scott Duane share some real talk about gender, embodiment, and dance class.
Emily Hansel just premiered her first evening-length work, Four by Four. She and her collaborators, Alex Carrington, Mia J. Chong, Shareen DeRyan, and Chelsea Reichert talk with Sima about their experiences designing an equitable contract.
This podcast stretches me every time! I take dance class because I am a sensation junkie and it allows me to escape my mind and indulge in my body (I know the mind is the body and vice versa) but this podcast lets me indulge cerebrally about my body!!!! Magic! Warning, If you listen while driving, you will miss exits! Which, consequently, gives you more time to listen! Thank you Sima!!!
For performing artists and folks who want the what, how, why, and who behind art-making, Dance Cast is doing something similar to Hrishikesh Hirway’s Song Exploder—showing how the stuff gets made—but also so much of the mechanics, motivations, and meanings behind every aspect of making work. Sima’s casual, curious, rigorous and humorous approach and deep, broad connections within the dance communities of the Bay Area and beyond welcome and inspire me.
