  • Painful to listen

Meandering on same topics but discussed better and sharper elsewhere. Don’t waste your time here.

  • Just real

Such a calm reasonable and thoughtful podcast. Great conversations and balanced points of view. It’s ok to agree to disagree and have a decent human chat about it. Also helpful and educational in regards to the more destructive ideologies and their effects on politics, culture and personal relationships. Good stuff!

  • Content: Phenomenal; Tech: Could Use Some Work

I love this podcast, which is why it is so frustrating that I can’t hear it. I listen to most of my podcasts at a medium volume on very high-quality headphones (Trekz AfterShokz). I can barely hear this podcast on the road at maximum volume. The quality of the sound (when I can hear it) is great, but I usually can’t hear it. This only occurs when I listen to this podcast; I have no problems with any others. I would love it if the volume could be augmented. Thanks so much. I am a new listener, bu... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

George Soros, Birthright Citizenship, and the Lost Constitution - Randy Barnett
Q: What is originalism?
Originalism is the view that the meaning of the Constitution should remain unchanged until it is properly amended, ensuring that judges, legislators, and citizens apply the original meaning rather than modern reinterpretations.
"We Are Summoning the Demon." Is Elon Right About AI?
Q: What is the general concern about AI in society right now?
There is a broad tension between recognizing AI's potential to boost productivity and fear about job displacement, privacy, and the erosion of human connection, which requires thoughtful policy and ethical considerations.
The Race Hustler Narrative Is on Life Support
Q: What is the core critique of the 1619 Project in this discussion?
The host and guests argue that the project misrepresents founding ideals, ignores broader global histories of slavery, and was not credentialed by historians, leading to a distorted view of American history.
Why Africa Stays Poor (It’s Not Colonialism) - Magatte Wade
Q: How did your personal journey influence your view on economics and development?
Her move from Senegal to Germany and France, then the US, exposed her to vastly different regulatory and business environments. This lived experience shaped her belief that when people have agency and access to markets, entrepreneurship thrives and incomes rise, which she ties to her later work creating opportunities for women in Senegal.
Why Africa Stays Poor (It’s Not Colonialism) - Magatte Wade
Q: Why is Africa often portrayed as poor due to colonialism, and what is your response to that view?
While colonialism and oppression certainly harmed many societies, the broader data Wade argues suggests that sustained economic performance depends on policy environments, rule of law, and freedom to create wealth. She cites cases like Botswana versus Ghana earlier and emphasizes that development rests on economic freedom, property rights, and reduced regulatory burdens.
