閻連科從全本聊齋志異中挑出二十多個故事，經過改寫、潤色、增添枝葉後，把這些古老的文言文作品重寫成現代人清楚易讀的白話小說。但他的《聊齋本紀》，絕對不是只把文言文的聊齋譯成白話文這麼簡單，他做的事是「翻譯和擴展」。我相信，若蒲松齡再世，應該也會為閻連科賦予聊齋新生命的作法而讚嘆不已吧。
