dyl + Trevor discuss parenting, public image, & how God is in everything (Creative CTRL Ep. 30)
Q: Should we blur those lines for Bill Cosby, or should we take his art and say, like, this is the art?
We can't blur those lines. While we can appreciate the artistic work, we should be mindful of the morality behind it.
dyl + Trevor Atwood on sermons as comedy, jokes in prayer, + comedians as prophets (Creative CTRL Ep. 20)
Q: How do you define the image of God in people who might be struggling?
We need a high view of humanity because of the image of God, which affects how we treat others and interact with them.
dyl + Trevor Atwood on sermons as comedy, jokes in prayer, + comedians as prophets (Creative CTRL Ep. 20)
Q: How does trauma plus time relate to comedy or the act of preaching?
There is a way that when I pull back and we have time, so we have trauma plus time, a moment that is impactful, but give it time and I can look at this in the context of the whole thing, and this is going to be something that I can laugh about.
dyl + Trevor Atwood on sermons as comedy, jokes in prayer, + comedians as prophets (Creative CTRL Ep. 20)
Q: What do you think makes the best jokes about prayer, if any?
There's a way to keep your conversation with God light-hearted, humorous, and genuine without losing reverence.
dyl + Trevor Atwood on sermons as comedy, jokes in prayer, + comedians as prophets (Creative CTRL Ep. 20)
Q: I just want to know if you've done any thinking and have another example that can maybe drive the point home.
Comedy, especially when we're talking about puns or dad jokes, those are, you're using your mind to bring wordplay together in a way that people identify with it.
