Jacob and Pam hit the nail on the head every time, and it’s why I never miss an episode. The “will programs replace teachers” is one in particular that must be heard and shared. If we want to keep real teaching and learning at the center, then we should all be listening to the sage advice shared here.
Pam & Jacob provide the thoughts and inspiration teachers need to hear! I enjoy each and every episode!
Always inspiring to listen to!! For those looking to connect Science of Reading and workshop in my opinion these 2 nail it! I’m no expert but I do my share of trying to learn what SOR is and it seems it’s direct instruction. What could be more direct then starting every mini lesson with the standard, teaching the standard and having kids practice, with their own material. Thanks for all the inspiration.
Jacob and Pam have reenforced so much about what I believe students need in order to grow as individuals through reading and writing. Their banter is fun; they seem to really enjoy learning from each other.
I love how this podcast always puts students first. Most teacher podcasts aim to make the teacher’s life easier when what we should be asking ourselves during planning is not what’s easier for the teacher but what’s going to make it easier for the students to learn. As I listen to you both and reflect on ALL my mistakes I realize that the moments I enjoy are when my students are truly engaged. Easier lessons and less stressful days are a natural result of good authentic planning.
