Reviews

3.8 out of 5 stars from 10 ratings
  • Good if you want to listen to 20 minute commercials

Control global has some good content on its website, but this podcast feels very forced, generic, and dumbed down. There’s no personality to it, and no intimacy. It’s pretty much just a forum for companies to spew out their latest pitch to anyone who might be listening.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Automating energy resilience with modular solutions
Q: What industries see the most value today from modular energy resilience?
Data centers are a clear early adopter due to high power demand and the need for uptime, with life sciences and pharmaceutical manufacturers also highlighting the criticality of continuous production.
Automating energy resilience with modular solutions
Q: What does modular mean in practice, and why is it important for resilience?
Modularity means repeatable, fixed configurations (like standardized containers) that enable manufacturing efficiencies, easier maintenance, and scalable deployments with less bespoke design work.
Automating energy resilience with modular solutions
Q: Why are so many organizations suddenly focused on energy resilience and what's driving the urgency now versus a few years ago?
Drivers include an aging grid, rising demand, and the fact that modular solutions have become less capital-intensive and quicker to deploy, making resilience attainable for more facilities.
How to build a strong process engineering workforce
Q: So just to provide a little introductory context, what workforce issues is AGR and its clients facing lately? For instance, what is the current state of the retirement brain drain?
Brian explains that the brain drain persists (the 'Silver Tsunami') and that customers are asking AGR to help be part of the solution by providing better recruitment and retention support, while also acknowledging the challenge of maintaining operations with fewer qualified workers. He emphasizes multiple pathways into the field, including traditional degrees, technical training, and ongoing education, and notes the critical role of cross-training and career mobility within AGR.
A future framework for resilient operations
Q: What's the pecking order for industrial success regarding investment in resilience and autonomy?
Start now and select use cases that deliver value quickly; pilot small projects within weeks, measure ROI, and then scale gradually across broader operations. Many assets have already optimized existing technologies, so focus on re-architecting management and pursuing edge-enabled solutions to improve agility and resilience.
