Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Adam Tierney (13 Demons Dead) Interview
Q: What inspired 13 Demons Dead and how did the format evolve from a 12-issue plan to a 250-page graphic novel?
The project drew from Hellblazer vibes, teenage protagonists, and horror lore; IDW greenlit it as a single-volume because it fit a manga-like structure, advancing one month per chapter to cover a year of the heroine's journey.
Adam Tierney (13 Demons Dead) Interview
Q: How does writing for games differ from writing for comics, especially in terms of pacing and dialogue?
In games you write with spoken timing in mind, so jokes and timing hinge on performance; in comics you must craft voice without audio cues, relying on panel flow and page turns to deliver rhythm and impact.
Adam Tierney (13 Demons Dead) Interview
Q: When someone asks what you do, how do you describe your work today?
I describe myself as a writer, since that umbrella lets me cover video games, comics, TV, and children's books, with a strong emphasis on dialogue.
Energon Universe Roundtable (SDCC 2025)
Q: What do you suggest for those of us that want to get back into it?
You start with issue one of Transformers, written and drawn by myself.
Energon Universe Roundtable (SDCC 2025)
Q: What is your hope for people that pick up a Transformers book?
I hope it stays in print and people continue to enjoy it.
