  • True music fans.

I just discovered this podcast and am now obsessed. Their love for music is shown through without being critical or pretentious. I love that they cover so much of the 2000's alternative music that I still find some of my favorites. Keep up the awesome work!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Descendents: Hardcore Comes to California (ft. Hanif Abdurraqib)
Q: Do you think there's like an inherent hypocrisy or perhaps a privileged hypocrisy when it comes to the punk scene?
I think it's the hypocrisy of any insular scene where people can watch some of their direct peers quote unquote make it.
Descendents: Hardcore Comes to California (ft. Hanif Abdurraqib)
Q: Does the cover art do anything for you, Hanif? Is that part of the lore here with The Descendents?
At least the cover art was what drew me to the album.
Descendents: Hardcore Comes to California (ft. Hanif Abdurraqib)
Q: Why this album for you? Why is Milo Goes to College the one you want to come on and talk with us about?
Because I think that largely I had spent some time thinking about The Descendents and how, while I don't think this is their best album, I think it's the most important and I think it is the one that set a blueprint for a sound.
Lorde's Breakup Album (ft. Erin)
Q: Were you a Lorde fan off of Pure Heroine, or was it more Melodrama?
No, I was a fan early on, first getting into Royals through an NPR podcast, and then I really appreciated her work on the Hunger Games soundtracks as well.
Lorde's Breakup Album (ft. Erin)
Q: Why Lorde's Melodrama, to come on Columbia House Party and discuss?
It is one of very few fave albums for me. I come back to it over and over because it has enough range and emotional depth for me as a listener to appreciate.
