“Sorrow,” from Northern Californian author Anita Dime, has a twisted ending that I didn’t see coming. Dime sets her story in Big Basin, among the sequoias. Massive damage to the sequoia trees: scars on the bark, leftover from cars smashing into them, curving off the road. Eight accidents this year. Roadside marker after roadside marker. Pray it won’t be you next time.
I urge all fans of hard-boiled detective thrillers to hear the recording of “Night Calls,” from author Anita Dime. The story follows Forensic Specialist Cindy Pruitt’s investigation into the murderous death of Amanda, a pretty young wife. Pruitt is the only medical examiner in the small township of Elkin, North Carolina, and with her newest case comes a deadly workload. Alongside local law enforcement agencies, Pruitt reconstructs the gruesome crime scene, step by step. We witness the beginning ... more
Pandora Driver vs a militarized police force, in a race for a financial fugitive. Although this adventure is set in the 1930s, it’s a timely commentary on police violence. The sound effects and music add rich flavorful to the story.
My favorite line was, “I love to spy on cops.”
Great Stuff! Loved it. If you haven’t picked up the ebook, it’s also a great read. The story is set during the great depression and the golden age of comic when pulp magazines were abound. It’s paced like a comicbook. The fight scenes are brutal and plot reveals kept me interested though out. This audio version brings out more of the excitement that comes with the story.
