Carbon Capture: How Waste-to-Energy Cuts CO2
Q: So how is this CO2 actually collected, and what does the process look like in the absorber and desorber?
Flue gas is cooled, sent to a large absorber where amine solution captures CO2, then the CO2-rich liquid goes to a desorber where heat releases the CO2, yielding a purified gas stream and regenerating the amine.
Carbon Capture: How Waste-to-Energy Cuts CO2
Q: And when you say you're looking into that, what exactly is EEW doing there already?
They have bought a CO2 test plant—a mobile, containerized unit tested at Delfzijl—to study post-combustion capture on varying flue gas compositions before scaling to other sites.
