Not just the best podcast about Iranian film. Possibly one of the best podcast about film, period.
Rarely can I unpack these beautiful, layered films with friends or with the right words so listening to these has been an absolute pleasure. I hope you have Terrestrial Verses, My Favorite Cake, Chess of the Wind and Gabbeh on your list. I’ll be listening.
There is a lack of podcasts around Iranian cinema - the wonderful Hello Cinema podcast stopped broadcasting several years ago. Cinema Rex gives great commentary from two people in film-making who speak Farsi and have an insight into Iranian culture. Thank you!
I love this podcast. Having left Iran when u was 14, I haven’t watched many Iranian movies. I feel this podcast connects me to my heritage and my culture. Having said that, this podcast is not only for Iranians. Anyone interested in film and film making can listen and interpret how the hosts break down each movie thoroughly.
