  • My All Time Favorite Podcast!!

A reason to look forward to Tuesdays and Saturdays. I’ve been listening to Car Talk for almost 15 years and I still can’t stop laughing every time I hear them. I’m happy to hear that their T-shirt and bumper stickers are back. Now I know what I’ll “ask” my family to gift me for my birthday.

  • Original air dates?

I’ve always loved this show, my only complaint is that this podcast doesn’t state the original episode air dates somewhere in the description! Some of them you can sort of figure out through context they’re in the 90s or early 2000s, but it would be nice to know for context when exactly each of these aired originally.

  • CarTalk + is worth it

I am happy to support NPR and CarTalk. Click and Clack are like having two wacky, funny uncles. I listen to an episode every day for a Q good chuckle as well as learn stuff about my car. Timeless.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

#2617: Definitely Not OK
Q: What causes a chirping sound after replacing a clutch?
It could be caused by a need for grease on the pivot ball where the fork attaches, or it could indicate a problem with the thrust bearing.
#2617: Definitely Not OK
Q: What should I do if my car was left idling for several hours?
It may not be a big problem since modern fuel-injected cars can run for extended periods without issues.
#2613: Plague-proofing Your Car
Q: What do I do about the mold in my car?
Use sodium hypochlorite (bleach) to kill the mold but it will turn everything white. Air out the car in the sun afterwards.
#2607: House Call
Q: What do I need to consider about my Honda Accord that's running rough?
You might need a valve job, as it sounds like one of the cylinders is not firing due to possible oil issues. It's best to have it looked at by a trusted shop.
#2607: House Call
Q: What should I do with my son's Ford Escort that hasn't moved in a year and a half?
Put a battery in it, disconnect the coil wire, crank it to get oil up, then reconnect it and turn the key. Make sure to check the oil and coolant levels first.
