오래도록 전설(?)처럼 내려오는 이기호 작가의 소설을 드디어 읽어봤습니다. 예전에 읽으셨던 분은 기억을 떠올리면서, 안 읽으신 분은 어떤 내용인지 같이 살펴보면서 같이 수다 떠는 기분으로 들어주시면 좋겠습니다. 이제 봄이네요! 서담서담 책 읽기 좋은 계절이 옵니다.
뉴스를 보다가 이 책을 읽어야겠다는 생각이 들었어요. 어쩌면 모두가 아는 책이지만 모두 읽지는 않은 책... 조지 오웰이 살았던 시대, 그때 그렸던 미래상이 지금과 연결이 되는 게 좋은일은 아닌데요 그 안에 숨겨져 있는 '인간다움'을 어떻게든 찾아보고 이야기하는 기쁨이 있었습니다. 지금 이 책 1984를 읽어보면 아마 새롭게 다가올 거예요.
누군가 나를 좀 지켜봐줬으면, 혼자 가기 쑥쓰러운데 같이 가줬으면, 힘이 안 나는데 응원 한 마디 해줬으면. 그런 생각을 할 때 연락할 수 있는 낯선 사람이 있다네요? 재밌게 읽기 시작했다가 깊은 생각을 해보게도 되는 책이었어요. 이보다 쉽고 와닿게 존재란 무엇인가 설명할 수 있을까 싶기도 하고요.
새 해 첫 책은, 다시 천선란 작가의 소설입니다. 시간이 어떻게 가는지 모르게 모든 인물들의 이야기에 빠져들었고 다 읽고 나서는 숨을 한 번 몰아쉬기도 했습니다. 생이 그냥 이어지는 게 아니라 누군가의 지켜봄으로, 누군가의 손길로 이어지기도 한다는 걸 또 이 소설을 통해 생각했어요. 새해 복 많이 받으시고, 올해도 우리 같이 책 많이 읽어요.

동시에 준비하며 다사다난한 해였는데, 12월 31일 마지막 편을 듣다보니 모든게 낯선 시작인 2026년에도 항상 서담서담이 있어주었으면 하는 생각이 간절하네요
예전에 서미란 피디님께서 서담서담의 존재이유에 대한 얘기를 듣고, 제가 듣는 이유가 그거라 놀랐었습니다. 딱 저의 마음속 친구같은 프로그램입니다. 앞으로 10년이상 쭉 함께 해주시길 부탁드립니다

한 권의 책을 끝까지 읽고 나서 문득,
‘책을 읽는 행위’ 자체가 제가 좋아하는 시간이 되었다는 걸 느꼈어요.
그 마음이 어디에서 시작됐을까 생각해 보니

세 분의 목소리를 들으며 책 이야기를 듣다 보면
일상에서도 함께하고 있는 느낌이 들어 늘 힘이 납니다.
