  • Retzlaff

I was surprised to hear such praise for Jake Retzlaff when he returned for pro day. At the very least the guy let down an entire team & embarrassed the university by violating the school’s honor code. At worst, he let down an entire team, embarrassed the university & brutally assaulted & raped a girl. Either way, I’m not sure why BYU and the hosts of this podcast would speak so highly & be so happy to have a guy like him return.

  • BYU SHOULD BE IN

Guys, don’t capitulate so easily. Stick to your guns. Should Miami be in over BYU? Notre Dame? It’s an obvious no. BYU was robbed this year & that sentiment should be repeated without apology.

By pretending things worked out fairly bc of the Tech loss, you give credibility to the obvious bias & bigotry evidenced by how things shook out.

BYU got screwed. Say it & move on. There is no justification for it, so stop trying to justify the committee’s decision.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Back to Provo: New Beginnings for Betsey & Woolston
Q: Why did BYU become a top option for you during the transfer process?
BYU stood out because of its NBA pedigree, the staff's clear development plan, and the opportunity to compete at a high level in a program that values shooting and versatile bigs.
Big 12 Shake-Up: Sorsby News & BYU’s 2026 Outlook
Q: How might BYU be affected by the Sorsby news in the Big 12 race?
BYU remains a strong contender with its own depth at quarterback and running back, and the shifting dynamics at Texas Tech could open opportunities in the conference race, especially if Texas Tech's top player is unavailable; BYU could move up in the standings depending on schedule and injuries.
Big 12 Shake-Up: Sorsby News & BYU’s 2026 Outlook
Q: What does this mean for Texas Tech if Sorsby can't play?
Texas Tech would rely on Will Hammond as the starter, but the team would be more vulnerable and would need to lean on depth charts and other quarterbacks to contend for the Big 12 title.
Dybantsa, the Draft, and BYU’s Future
Q: Fran, not a surprise per se, but what was your initial reaction to him making it official and what his future holds?
Well, he had to make it official to let the NBA know that he is in the draft, and the future is bright. AJ showed an amazing year, and there is a consensus that he could be the number one pick. His talent, durability, intensity, and the coaching he received at BYU all contribute to the bright outlook as he enters the draft process.
Best of BYU Sports Nation - Week of Apr 20 - Apr 24
Q: What motivated Rob Wright III to re-enter the transfer portal and eventually return to BYU?
He cited a strong relationship with Coach Kevin Young, the support system at BYU, and the sense that BYU offered the best fit for his leadership and playing style, making the chance to stay and contribute with continuity the most appealing option.
