I was looking for a podcast about Happiness (1998) and gave this one a try. I saw there were also episodes about The Piano Teacher, The Room and Videdrome so I’ve been listening to every episode in the past week. The hosts are fun to listen to and pick great movies to dive into. I’m looking forward to more episodes.
I love this as a fellow horror/gore/difficult cinema ratwoman! Love it!
*Edit * The phrase “elevated horror” is a marketing term that describes films that are seen as artistic, or thematically complex. However every movie, horror or otherwise, is open to individual interpretation based on the viewers personal experience, emotional reactions, cultural background, and analytical frameworks. All interpretations are subjective, regardless of labels like “elevated”. That’s the beauty, cinema offers space to explore complex issues that are often inaccessible or marginal... more
Such a great podcast discussing some of the best horror and cult movies. I had the honor and privilege of serving with Sarah and Emma in a special forces black ops unit in the late 90’s. I haven’t seen them since they saved my life after I losing in an underground card game on an intel only mission in Thailand, but my twin boys, Sarah and Emma, thank you both for your service and the podcast episode on Boxing Helena (their favorite movie after Toy Story).
5 stars!
As a former podcaster myself (and horror cinema buff), I’m always delighted to be blown away by something with substance and quality. Not only are Sarah and Emma really easy to listen to, but their chemistry is fantastic and their recaps both hilarious and concise. I’m eager to see where they go with this podcast, and I hope it goes for awhile. This show deserves to be big.
