  • Brian Has A Nice Voice

I like listening to Brian’s voice. Anybody can make a podcast these days, but most people’s voices are not audibly satisfying. There is an art to this and Brian exemplifies it. I also hope they get Billy Morrisette back on the show soon. Or me, and we can talk more about the art of the voice. Anyways, listen to this podcast if you can.

  • Great show butt

Yeah I said butt. Beloved twin cities radio guy launches podcast following unceremonious dumping by FM radio. Books great local and national guests. Pontificates lovingly about the music he really wanted to play all those years and shares it with listeners, along with his unfiltered opinions. Good to hear him back. Here’s the thing. The audio quality should be much better from a pro. Sure, Brian’s low pitched, honey rich golden tones shine through but every other guest sounds like they’re talkin... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep 576 The Suburbs!
Q: What was the mindset behind recording the new live album and capturing the Cabooze sessions from 1983?
The idea was to preserve the raw energy and the multi-track, live-in-the-room feel that made the Suburbs' performances legendary, which is why the vault material is so treasured.
Ep 576 The Suburbs!
Q: Did it ever strike you as tedious to play Cows, and was it ever a novelty you grew tired of performing?
No, it never felt tedious; the song was a high-energy piece that audiences connected with, and the band's dynamic kept it fresh for each performance.
Brian Oake Show Ep 573 Harlow
Q: What draws you to recording at home and balancing studio time with live performance?
Producing at home allows intimate control and collaboration, but they also value live performance for the energy and feedback it provides; the group emphasizes letting the band organically shape the sound rather than over-polishing demos in isolation.
Brian Oake Show Ep 573 Harlow
Q: When can fans expect new material and touring updates?
The band has completed tracking for the next album, with September 2025 as the target release window and a June 5 single, Better With A Buddy, to preview the new material; they also have tour plans around October and selected shows in the meantime.
Brian Oake Show Ep 573 Harlow
Q: Who writes the music, and how does the song-creation process work in the band?
I write the songs and Dez helps arrange and shape them; the rest of the band contributes to refining and building out the arrangement, which broadens the texture and brings depth beyond the initial idea.
