  • Fantastic Information!! A+ A+ A+

This podcast is filled with great information on about everything you need to know about raising and keeping your poultry in top condition. It doesn’t even need to have feathers for this material to relate to many other things. I’m grateful for the information I have taken from here and hoping too take it to the next level by joining the Academy soon.

  • Really is the only podcast of its kind.

An absolute wealth of knowledge with a focus on science and evolutionary understanding of poultry and game fowl genetics. The format is very upbeat, great conversation, everyone brings something special to the show, if your not a serious breeder you may be offended from time to time. Top notch. My only wish is that they spoke more of blue genes, would love an episode just on that.

  • Helpful but repetitive

I was finding this podcast helpful

It ends up just being repetitive with a lot of re run episodes being listed as a “bonus” rather than a new fresh episode, it’s a podcast we can re run an episode whenever we like!

  • The best!

This podcast is amazing! I find myself listening to it all the time, the information that is put out by Kenny and the rest of the crew is high quality and I would (and do) recommend it to anyone that breeds livestock not just chickens.

Ep277 - The Hidden Enemy - Understanding and Managing Stress in Our Fowl
Q: Is oregano better fresh or in oil form?
Most of the benefits are found in the oil form, but you have to use it sparingly because it's very concentrated.
Ep277 - The Hidden Enemy - Understanding and Managing Stress in Our Fowl
Q: What is the protein content used during breeding season?
I use about 18 and a quarter, 18 and a half, and they do really good on that. I just don't like going crazy with higher percentages.
Ep277 - The Hidden Enemy - Understanding and Managing Stress in Our Fowl
Q: How can we make up for old feed?
If the food shows any signs of mold or the chickens are not eating it, then that's when there's a concern, but if they're acting well, then the feed is likely fine.
Ep277 - The Hidden Enemy - Understanding and Managing Stress in Our Fowl
Q: Does selective breeding increase the flock's resistance to mycoplasm?
If you select sick birds or birds that are susceptible to mycoplasma, then yes. But if you select birds that are healthy, chances are you're going to get away from it.
What Are the Most Common Poultry Problems for Backyard Breeders? (Ep111)
Q: What is vent gleet?
Vent gleet is usually caused by a fungal infection, characterized by white, stinky material around the cloaca.
