Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep 53: A 200-Day Pay App Nightmare & Financing GCs w/ Tara Cristel
Q: What is the one thing Tara would tell her former self to do differently in this situation?
Take the emotion out of the negotiations, unapologetically negotiate contract terms, understand cash flow, and collect money promptly; don't be afraid to push back and set clear expectations with GC partners.
Ep 54: Growth Without a Cash Crunch - Scott Peper, CEO at Mobilization Funding
Q: What should a contractor do when faced with a much larger project outside their normal scale?
Have a clear margin buffer, model the production rate and cash flow consequences, consider whether the extra work can be absorbed without compromising core operations, and use a lender as a growth tool rather than a source of last-minute rescue.
Ep 54: Growth Without a Cash Crunch - Scott Peper, CEO at Mobilization Funding
Q: How do you determine whether a given project is suitable for financing through your program?
We underwrite the job by analyzing the schedule of values, the budget, supplier terms, and how the project will get paid; if the economics don't pencil in weekly cash flow and a clear payback, we don't lend, or we structure it very conservatively.
Ep 54: Growth Without a Cash Crunch - Scott Peper, CEO at Mobilization Funding
Q: What is Mobilization Funding's core value proposition for a contractor who is growing but cash-constrained?
We provide a cash flow tool and a loan program that essentially acts as a strategic liquidity partner, enabling the contractor to forecast exact funding needs, time those funds, and finance growth without sacrificing margins or taking on unsustainable debt.
Ep 50: BuildWitt - From Dirt Pics to Software w/ Aaron Witt
Q: When did it transition from snapping photos to contributing to the workforce?
It wasn't a single moment but a gradual realization driven by a love for construction and an eagerness to try different things in the industry.
