  • Fav Witcher Pod!

This is my favourite Witcher-related podcast. I love the deep dives into the books/short stories especially. There’s a lot to talk about and there are some great discussions that come up. I’m rereading the books right now and have been enjoying listening to the episodes along with each story.

  • Definitely a podcast worthy of your time.

I'm only a handful of episodes in as of this review, but it's the guests and perspective they bring that makes this podcast so engaging.

When dealing with translated works, the shadows of "I wonder what's being lost in translation/localization?" usually looms in my mind. To have an array of guests that have read either the original Polish or other translations give their perspectives on the text really gives a robust look into the work!

  • A must listen for a Witcher fan

Alyssa and her international hanza discuss Sapkowski’s books and also the Netflix show. They go deep. They go really deep. The sound quality is excellent. Conversations are engaging and intelligent. Really professional production recorded on a shoestring budget from what I understand. I listened to the audio version of the books and missed some things. This podcast helped me to understand certain events from the books. Keep up the good work!

  • Fun, engaging and dedicated

Breakfast in Beauclair is a great addition to the world of Witcher content creators. Although it is relatively new, the creator, Alyssa, shows clear dedication to the show. She brings along co-hosts with a very close relationship to the Witcher series which causes some very interesting discussions and memorable moments. Apart from that, the podcast doesn’t take itself too seriously. It has the perfect balance between fun banter that makes it entertaining to listen to and serious discussions that... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep. 112 — Chapter 7 (Part 1) from "Tower of Swallows"
Q: How does Avallac'h's perspective alter our understanding of Lara Doran's lineage and Ciri's place in history?
Avallac'h frames Lara Doran as a key genetic progenitor within a larger prophetic scheme, which reframes Ciri's elder blood as both a literal and symbolic conduit for a history that humans may have attempted to rewrite, provoking a tension between human agency and destiny.
Ep. 112 — Chapter 7 (Part 1) from "Tower of Swallows"
Q: What are your overall thoughts on this chapter and its setup for Avallac'h's role?
The chapter blends myth and prophecy with a restrained, almost contemplative tone, highlighting Geralt's humility as a counterpoint to Avallac'h's grandiose intellect, while introducing the crucial idea that history and memory are manipulable through art and narrative.
Ep. 116 — Chapter 10 from "Tower of Swallows"
Q: What were Nicola's standout moments from Chapter 10?
Nicola highlights the parallel timelines converging, the brutal ambush at Dundair, and the powerful shift in Ciri's agency, emphasizing how Sapkowski blends philosophy with action to drive character growth.
Ep. 119 — David French & Peter Kenny on Translating the Witcher
Q: How does the Polish manuscript move through translation and audio production?
David describes a backward-planned workflow where publishers set a fixed publication date, the translator produces drafts in stages, the editor provides feedback, and the audiobook narration is scheduled to align with the final text, with multiple review rounds to ensure accuracy and fluency.
