Governor Wes Moore on Preakness Changes, Sovereignty Takes Whitney | E079
Q: What is the significance of Maryland owning the IP rights and how might that influence the future of the Triple Crown and other major races?
Moore argued that state ownership secures control over the destiny of Maryland racing, enabling leveraged media rights and a more coordinated effort to grow the sport regionally and nationally, including potential integration into a Championship Series.
Governor Wes Moore on Preakness Changes, Sovereignty Takes Whitney | E079
Q: Governor, did you have a conversation with Churchill Downs or New York about moving the Preakness back a week, and was this done in consultation with national bodies or primarily local horsemen?

Nitrogen Tackles Males in Whitney, Could New Series End Triple Crown? | E078
Q: How might the new Thoroughbred Championship Series affect where horses race and how races are valued?
John Green and the hosts discuss that the six-race series with a shared points system could elevate certain races to Grade One status, shift strategic calendars for trainers and owners, and centralize top-level racing in Kentucky and New York, potentially at the expense of some traditional races but with the promise of broader season-long engagement.
Nitrogen Tackles Males in Whitney, Could New Series End Triple Crown? | E078
Q: What was the thinking behind Nitrogen running against the boys in the Whitney?
John Green explains that the decision was the result of a deliberate, week-long discussion with Mark Cassie and the team, aiming to elevate Nitrogen to a historic level and create a standout legacy moment, while also testing her against elite competition to showcase her as a potential Hall of Fame talent.
Asmussen Prepares Magnitude for Return in Stephen Foster | E071
Q: How did Magnitude come out of the Dubai World Cup and how did that influence plans for Churchill?
Magnitude traveled exceptionally well, and the Dubai prep confirmed he deserved a chance on the big stage; the team used that experience to shape a Churchill-based plan with an emphasis on performance and confidence in Magnitude's fitness for the Stephen Foster.
