  • Beware

Louise showed up in my brother in laws hospital room after his spinal fusion surgery. She lied to hospital staff saying she was our family member, told them his parents sent her, and tried to impede patient care then refused to leave when asked. This lady has many screws loose and should not be trusted. She scared my BIL so much he wanted to call the police. Louise, you’re awful.

  • This woman is insane

She showed up in my brother’s hospital room claiming to be a family member after his spinal cord injury (which by the grace of god, did not render him paralyzed) and tried to scare him with false information about his accident that she read about online and embellished upon. She’s absolutely insane. Such a violation of privacy, hope she gets arrested.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

#298 The Architecture of Neural Repair with Dr. Pengzhe Lu
Q: How close are we to translating these approaches into human trials?
Clinical translation is approaching, with discussions of gene therapy and induced pluripotent stem cells, but current trials are not yet in humans; researchers are addressing delivery, ethics, and safety while preparing for future first-generation stem cell transplant trials in the next few years.
#298 The Architecture of Neural Repair with Dr. Pengzhe Lu
Q: What three areas of biology inform your approach to spinal cord repair?
Lu outlines three areas: (1) peripheral nervous system regeneration as a model for mechanisms; (2) conserved regenerative abilities in lower vertebrates and the differences in mammals; (3) the developmental programs that shut down growth in adulthood and how reactivating these programs could enable regeneration.
#298 The Architecture of Neural Repair with Dr. Pengzhe Lu
Q: What happens when we start seeing the severed spinal cord as a landscape for new architecture rather than a closed door?
The guest explains that recognizing the spinal cord as a landscape allows researchers to design bridges with neural stem cell grafts and scaffolds that reconnect neural networks across a lesion, turning a previously hopeless prognosis into a research-driven possibility with real patient impact.
#295 The Crash That Saved My Life with Jesi Stracham
Q: Can a tragedy actually save your life? What if the moment that broke your body was the only thing that could fix your life?
The host frames the premise and Jesi explains how the accident redirected her purpose toward advocacy, adaptive sports, and entrepreneurship, turning trauma into a mission to help others with SCI.
#294 Inside Stem Cell Research for Spinal Cord Injury With Mark Tuszynski
Q: What are the practical considerations for families thinking about participating in stem cell trials?
Families should understand that FDA-approved therapies for spinal cord repair do not yet exist, and participation in trials carries risks and uncertainties. The decision should balance the potential for functional gains against the unknowns, the required time commitment, and the availability of nearby, accredited trial sites. Our team provides trauma-informed support to help families navigate information, logistics, and expectations, aiming to empower them to make informed choices.
