  • What timing

It’s amazing this podcast was started as the Knicks began their unexpected turnaround and breakout season culminating in their first playoff appearance in a decade and their first shot at winning a round (or even a game) in even longer. It’s almost like Sal, Producer Jake, and the inimitable JYD are the reason for the season. A fun listen every week. Insightful reflections and great guests. Serve with steak, but not Sizzler.

What a great tribute to Patrick Ewing from Sal Licata! With the emotional ties many of us have for them 90’s Knick teams, just “Thank You Patrick Ewing” was the perfect way to thank the Man who gave his all! Loving this Knicks podcast— woof!

Thunder vs Spurs: Who Should Knicks Fans Want In NBA Finals? | NY Got Game
Q: Do you think the Knicks are going to win the NBA Championship? And if so, what's the single biggest reason why you believe this Knicks team can finish the job here in 2026?
Yes, I believe they can win the championship because their offense has clicked at a high level, and their defense and transition game elevate them beyond just relying on one star, with Brunson supported by a versatile wing group and a robust supporting cast.

Q: But then seeing what happened with the Knicks, it makes me think of game one, the Halliburton shot. Was that disappointing for you to know that the Knicks could have got there, and you could have been calling them to NBA finals last year?
Yes, it was a tough moment because the team deserved to be there, and it highlighted the thin margins and how a single shot can alter history.

Q: When the final buzzer sounded against the Cavs, what was going through your mind personally, as that final buzzer sounded, knowing the Knicks would be going to the finals?
I felt the work they had put in paid off and started to imagine the possibilities of broadcasting the Finals, while also recognizing the growth of the players and the coaching staff that got them there.
Sal Licata: “I Wouldn’t Trade Brunson For Wemby” + Knicks Take 2-0 Lead | NY Got Game
Q: Would you trade Jalen Brunson for Victor Wembanyama?
Sal states he would not trade Brunson for any player, citing Brunson's loyalty, leadership, and fit with the Knicks, suggesting that keeping Brunson is more valuable than any potential upgrade.
Sal Licata: “I Wouldn’t Trade Brunson For Wemby” + Knicks Take 2-0 Lead | NY Got Game
Q: Sal, what was your pick before the series?
Sal explains his pick was the Sixers in seven, due to their dangerous talent and the Knicks' inconsistent playoff performance; he still believes the Knicks could win but warned about overrating the Knicks' dominance.
