There's a pervasive idea that NASA has hidden alien life; in reality, scientists are vocal about their discoveries, and NASA data is publicly accessible, with the Planetary Data System hosting all mission data for anyone who wants to explore.

Q: What is your best piece of advice for students who are trying to figure out what to study or pursue for a career?
If you're not sure yet, don't be afraid to try different things because one class or one professor can set you on a life-changing direction, and it's okay to take your time and explore at your own pace.

Q: Tell us about yourself, who are you, and what do you do?
I'm a planetary scientist by training, now working as Director of Earth and Space Science at Mission Control, where the focus is on designing instruments and missions to achieve science goals for Mars and other rocky bodies, while balancing constraints like mass, power, and cost.

Q: What is your favorite geologic feature in Canada?
The Magdalen Islands in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, noted for their diverse geology, red sandstone cliffs, salt diapirs, and a long-running road salt mine that highlights resource extraction in a beautiful setting.
