I just discovered this podcast, and I am already a big fan! Dave's brings an "everyman's" approach to his discussion of beer, but you can tell he has a deep knowledge of the subject. His smooth, comfortable delivery is both contemplative and meditative. I also enjoy the news and notes that he includes, as well as his specific knowledge of the Chicago/midwest beer scene. Kudos, Dave! Keep putting thos beers in front of you!

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

304 Emrys Beer & Mead Works
Q: How do you handle the differences in making beer versus mead in the same facility?
Two distinct challenges exist: licensing and taxes for mead versus beer, and the practical need for thorough cleaning between batches to prevent cross-contamination while sharing equipment.
304 Emrys Beer & Mead Works
Q: What made Emrys the right moment to bring beer and mead under one roof?
The move was driven by a clear vision to diversify offerings and create a holistic guest experience that blends beer, mead, and food with a chef-driven menu, rather than keeping them as separate, unrelated products.
301 Tate Huffard From Best Day Brewing
Q: How do you decide which NA beers to include in your lineup?
A deliberate, minimal, and outcome-driven approach to ensure every product serves a specific occasion or flavor profile, avoiding an overwhelming number of SKUs and focusing on quality and drinkability.
301 Tate Huffard From Best Day Brewing
Q: What has been the biggest technical hurdle in making a flavorful NA beer?
Maintaining the flavors and aroma through fermentation while removing alcohol, using advanced low-temperature pressure techniques that preserve the beer's character.
301 Tate Huffard From Best Day Brewing
Q: What was the light bulb moment that led you to start Best Day Brewing?
The realization that the beer I loved could exist as a flavorful non-alcoholic option, sitting in the fridge next to traditional beers, and the urge to create a product that matched those occasions without alcohol.
