Week 12: Gradual Training - Recap & Integration - Brian - 09202025
Q: How do you simultaneously investigate a hindrance in your mind, but also like, you know, having, being able to also like hold it lightly and not cling?
The key is to recognize that you're hindered without over-investigating that feeling, just acknowledging it, coming back to the breath, and allowing it to subside.
Week 11: Gradual Training - Liberation (Ending the Effluents) - Brian - 09132025
Q: How much do we need to focus on the effluents or the hindrances as an active process versus just being on the cushion, focusing on the breath?
It's all of those things and there's a time for each. If you think about the ordering of the gradual training, the hindrances come way before the effluents.
Week 4: Gradual Training - Mindfulness - Matt - 07262025
Q: How do you experience thoughts?
Thoughts are experienced in different parts of the body and are impermanent.
Week 3: Gradual Training - Sense Restraint - Brian - 07192025
Q: Can restraint also be acceptance?
Yes, sometimes acceptance is a good alternative when you can't remove yourself from the source.
Week 3: Gradual Training - Sense Restraint - Brian - 07192025
Q: What does sense restraint mean in practice?
It involves standing guard at the sense doors and observing sensations without grasping them.
