2014年底，因為台大BDSM社的成立遭到部分輔導委員的阻擋，讓2015年5月底在台大法學院舉辦的「禁羈民主與惡趣技藝：亞太地區第一屆皮繩愉虐情慾與文化國際學術研討會」應運而生，也即時回應了當時社會對禁羈實踐的壓迫事件。
2024年7月，「第一屆亞太禁羈研討會」在由部分舊成員組成的新團隊經過一年多的籌備後，即將在東吳大學社工系的協辦下，以新的面貌延續BDSM的學術耕耘。
