  • Come for the news take what you want from the opinions

It’s very hard to find good reliable actual news about what’s happening on the ground and this show is the best source for daily updates I’ve found. I don’t always agree with the hosts opinions and views on the politics but it’s great reporting and crucial for moments like now

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

‘A bunch of losers with no power’: Why Iran’s hardliners won’t win
Q: What can you tell us about Ghalibaf and what his position tells us about the state of Iran and whether peace talks will succeed?
Azizi outlines Ghalibaf as a central power broker who has both Revolutionary Guard credentials and technocratic tendencies, potentially able to push for normalization and deal-making while managing internal rivalries.
‘A bunch of losers with no power’: Why Iran’s hardliners won’t win
Q: Is there really a division inside Tehran between those who like a deal and those who would not?
Azizi explains that while there are factions, hardliners do not control the core levers of power and are politically marginal, with real influence more limited to certain outlets and MPs.
‘A bunch of losers with no power’: Why Iran’s hardliners won’t win
Q: Arash, welcome to Iran The Latest. Right now, as we stay on, I think we're on day 21 of the ceasefire. How are you feeling about all this?
Azizi expresses cautious optimism about the potential for a deal, noting both the high stakes and the need to balance reformist and hardline pressures within Tehran.
US 'could deploy hypersonic missiles' & how Russia is using Iran to fight the West
Q: What is the significance of Mojtaba Khamanei's public statements for the regime's narrative and stability?
Behnam explains that the statements are part of a broader attempt to project unity and resilience, especially amid limited public appearances, while signaling to domestic hardliners and international audiences that the regime remains in control and focused on nuclear and missile deterrence.
Sea mines and fast boats: how Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz
Q: Given Iran's use of fast boats and midget submarines, how vulnerable is a purely naval blockade to being evaded, and what would be required to keep pressure without escalating further?
A blockade is a numbers game; if ships can slip through faster than they can be interdicted and if Iran can maneuver with small fast craft, then additional carrier power and persistent allied mine countermeasures are needed to maintain deterrence while avoiding escalation.
