バンコクに隣接するサムットプラカン県で４月16日朝、１人の女性がムアン郡（県庁所在地）のムアンサムットプラカン警察署に出向き、ムアン郡で前日夜に催されたソンクラン祭の水かけの際、男に胸をまさぐられたとして被害届を提出した。女性によれば、オートバイに乗って通りがかったところ、１人の男が近づいてきて伝統の白い粉を水で溶いたものを女性の顔に塗りつけた後、胸をまさぐったという。そのせいで女性はバランスを失ってオートバイごと倒れそうになった。後部座席に乗っていた女友達も男に胸を触られたという。

タイ運輸省国道局はこのほど、バンコクの西隣、中部サムットサコン県で４月14日午後、高架道路建設現場でスチール製足場がラマ２世通りに落下した事故について調査して原因を究明するよう指示した。今回の事故ではけが人は出ておらず、交通の支障にならないよう落下した足場もすぐに撤去された。高架道路はバンコクからサムットサコン県、中部サムットソンクラム県、西部ラチャブリ県に至る81キロメートルのラマ２世通り（国道35号）の上に建設されているもので、足場が落下したのは上り線の27.５キロ指標のところだった。
タイ国軍は４月14日、今年の兵員募集は志願者が前年３万4617人を上回る約３万8000人に達したことから、将来的にくじ引きによる徴兵制を廃止できる可能性があると報告した。タイの現在の兵員募集制度は、一定年齢の国民に兵役を義務づける国民皆兵ではなく、一定の年齢に達した若者の中からくじ引きで選ぶシステムとなっており、志願兵の枠も設けられている。
仮釈放中のタクシン元首相（74）は生まれ故郷の北部チェンマイ県で４月14日、実の妹のインラック元首相とともにタイで来年のソンクラン祭を迎えたいとの希望を示した。インラック元首相（56）は2011年８月から2014年５月まで首相を務めたが、その後、「コメ買い上げ制度を巡って首相在任中に国に多額の損失を与えた」などとして罪に問われた。裁判中の17年９月に国外逃亡しており、今も事実上の亡命生活を続けている。
タイ政府は目玉政策の電子マネー１万バーツ給付計画に必要な5000億バーツのうち1723億バーツを農業農協銀行（BAAC）からの借り入れで賄うとしているが、BAAC労組は４月13日、この借り入れがBAAC利用者に不安を与えることになるとして、政府のこの不安を払拭するよう要求した。労組によれば、この借り入れがBAACの運営に関する法律に抵触する恐れがあるという。そのため、政府はBAACからの借り入れの合法性について国の法律最高諮問機関である法令委員会に見解を求める予定とのことだ。
