本集是《百年追求的獨立之聲》節目的特別篇，訪談吳叡人老師如何為史明的思想在台灣人的政治思想史做一定位。吳叡人老師曾於2012年撰寫〈啟示與召喚─「台灣人四百年史」的思想史定位〉，探究史明的思想。然而直到近幾年，當代台灣的國際局勢與發展如何，吳老師提出他的觀察，也為本系列節目畫下一個暫時的終點。
這集從四百年史出發，對於民族的歷史意義，民族，梳理史明對於台灣民族的意義，與同時期的其他台獨運動者的台灣民族概念的差異，並進而去說明史明思想的意義。

《百年追求的獨立之聲》第十集，是本節目的最終章。從主持人士博這十集的導讀以及邀訪多位曾與史明的生命歷程產生多重交織進而影響其人生的前輩，看到了史明對於思想、對於行動與理念的堅持。

「四百年來的島嶼筆記」
《百年追求的獨立之聲》第九集，史明從思想及行動的再建構，理論與實務的再認識，到提筆完成屬於島嶼的歷史，終於讓《台灣人四百年史》問世。史明說，四百年史是民眾的立場去書寫的台灣史的，站在一個民眾的角度去思考台灣社會的成型與發展。
1962年四百年史第一版完成後，台灣尚處於白色恐怖時期，官方知道史明即將出版四百年史，試圖阻止出版，但最終四百年史仍在日本出版發行。四百年史是如何發行的，而史明又是如何將自己的文字傳遞出去？

「思想與行動綱領的再建構」
《百年追求的獨立之聲》第八集，史明開始談論從自己對於社會主義追求，再進而延伸到逃亡異鄉時構思、建立《台灣人四百年史》一書的思想體系。 為了撰寫四百年史，史明重新閱讀社會主義跟馬克思主義，進而對於地下工作有很大的幫助。
