  • Leadership at its best!

Love this podcast. Host Angela does an incredible job researching her guests, and preparing for them which leads to in-depth, thoughtful conversations on leadership. I was fortunate to be a guest on her show to discuss my book Greatfruit. Really enjoyed her style and how easy she made the conversation. I’ve been in leadership for couple decades and still learn from every episode. Great show!

Gamify Your Life & Leadership for Maximum Impact | Caitlin Johnson
Q: What does the difference between a manager and a leader look like, and how do you help someone grow into leadership?
The guest describes leadership as building people and shaping mission and culture, while management focuses on tasks; she outlines coaching approaches that involve defining epic missions, setting clear behavioral goals, and using game-like structures to develop others.
Gamify Your Life & Leadership for Maximum Impact | Caitlin Johnson
Q: Were you a gamer growing up? If so, what was your first console and your favorite game?
Caitlin explains she wasn't a hardcore gamer as a kid, recounting early memories with Atari rather than the classic Nintendo era, and emphasizes that her passion for gamification grew later through hands-on work and problem-solving in organizational contexts.
If Your Emotional Intelligence Is Weak, Your Leadership Will Be Too | Chris Salem
Q: How do you define sustainable success and why is it different from chasing short-term wins?
Sustainable success is about embracing a process: focusing on what you can control, executing with consistency, and measuring impact over time. It requires patience, deliberate alignment of people and systems, and a willingness to rewire thinking to support long-term value rather than chasing quick boosts.
The Truth About Narcissistic Leaders | Brandon Smith
Q: What practical steps can a manager take to prevent burnout when facing urgent, high-pressure projects?
Adopt the hot sauce principle with a cap on urgency, communicate priorities clearly, and use bargaining techniques like 'yes, and' to renegotiate workloads and preserve focus.
The Truth About Narcissistic Leaders | Brandon Smith
Q: How can leaders distinguish healthy confidence from narcissism in interviews or leadership assessments?
Healthy leaders show curiosity, ask questions, accept feedback, and are willing to adjust based on input; narcissists tend to dominate conversations, avoid feedback, and focus on self-promotion.
