  • Great podcast

This podcast is so informative, thank you! I’d also really love a MOG Antibody Related Disorder follow up episode. A neuropsychiatric symptoms and treatment episode would be great too!

  • Incredibly Helpful & Reassuring!

These podcasts are absolutely wonderful. I am a 6th year TM patient & just to know that we have such highly qualified medical professionals in our camp now is an enormous comfort.

When I was first diagnosed, only 6 years ago, there was virtually nothing available to us in the UK; the neurologist who diagnosed me saw me once & signed me off her list because there was ‘nothing else I can do for you’! The night after my diagnosis delivery was spent on my iPhone, Googling the subject as it was app... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ask the Expert 1408. Open Q&A on Transverse Myelitis (TM)
Q: Can TM be a symptom of another disease?
Yes, TM can be both a diagnosis and a presentation, and a complete evaluation is often needed to determine if TM is the primary issue or a manifestation of another underlying inflammatory or autoimmune condition.
ABCs of NMOSD 602. NMOSD and Romantic Relationships
Q: What does it mean to navigate NMOSD in a romantic relationship and what advice do you have for others starting to date?
The panel stresses patience, gradual disclosure, finding a partner who demonstrates care through daily actions (like attending infusions together), and being honest about fears and financial concerns while prioritizing self-love and mutual support.
ABCs of NMOSD 602. NMOSD and Romantic Relationships
Q: Could you tell us your mom's story? Could you tell us how you met, how you knew they were the one?
The guests recount meeting at a patient day event, forming a friendship that grew into love, with milestones like shared experiences, a proposal during travel, and a commitment to support each other through NMOSD.
Ask the Expert 1305. FES 101
Q: What is a typical FES session like and how accessible is it for home use versus clinical settings?
Clinically, it starts with assessment, then supervised stimulation, and eventually a home program with devices chosen for the patient; success depends on device usability, training, and ongoing clinician support, with home use offering the most consistent opportunity for benefit.
Ask the Expert 1305. FES 101
Q: And then, how does FES work in the body, especially for people with impaired nerve signalling due to rare neuroimmune disorders?
FES can be applied non-invasively with skin electrodes or via implants; it generates an electric field that moves ions, creating a voltage difference that can trigger nerve activation, though damaged nerves may not always respond identically, with benefits arising over time through neuroplastic changes.
