いかんせんアニメ嫌いなもので、このポッドキャストを無視し続けてきたのですが、真面目に1エピソード視聴してみたらすっかりどハマり。「漫画で学ぶ日本史」的な初心者向けコンテンツと思いきや、容赦なくネイティブじゃないと教えられない表現・コンテクストの解説を含んだ上級者向け。まあ、よくよく考えてみればそれもそのはず、ここで取り上げられている日本の漫画やアニメで使われるようなキメ台詞を英語表現にすると、いわゆるシェイクスピアの劇中のセリフ由来の英語イディオムを学ぶのと同じようなものなんですよね。私は在米8年、米大卒の一応英語上級者ではあるのですが、さすが完璧なバイリンガルの天城さん、個人的によく理解していなかった「バカ」に対応する英単語の使い分け方が収録されたエピソードでの解説に感動し、あらためてサブスクライブ、EP.1から視聴しはじめました。英語ネイティブの講師が英会話コンテンツを作ると、非ネイティブの英語学習者がわかりやすいように簡単な英語を使ってしゃべりがちですが、天城さんは英語を教えるプロでないがゆえに、手加減のない言葉遣いをしてらっしゃるところが上級者的にはとてもありがたい。日本語だと... more
