今回のエピソードでは、日本へ帰国してから本格的に移住準備を始めた頃のお話をしています。
ビザの情報収集、必要な資金や書類の確認、そして何よりも大きな課題だったのが、名古屋で営んでいた雑貨店「ルリエ」をどうするのかという問題でした。
移住のためには前に進みたい。

「海外に住んでみたい」
そう思っていても、本当に暮らせるのかどうかは、実際に行ってみないと分からない。
前回のエピソードでは、名古屋で続けていた雑貨屋とカフェをどうするのか、海外移住への葛藤についてお話ししました。
そして今回は、その答えを探すために実際にオランダへ“下見”に行った時の話です。
今回の旅は、普通の観光旅行とは少し違いました。
テーマは「楽しむ」ではなく、「ここで生活できるか確かめること」。

オランダ移住という選択肢が現実的に見えてきたとき、私が直面したのは「夢」ではなく、とてもシンプルで重たい現実でした。
それは、「今やっている仕事をどうするのか」という問題です。
当時の私は、名古屋で雑貨屋とカフェを経営していました。
カフェは家族に任せられるとしても、雑貨屋は完全に自分一人で回している状態。
つまり、海外に行く＝お店を辞める、という構図でした。
ビジネスとして考えれば、辞めるのが一番合理的だったと思います。
