そう思っていても、本当に暮らせるのかどうかは、実際に行ってみないと分からない。
前回のエピソードでは、名古屋で続けていた雑貨屋とカフェをどうするのか、海外移住への葛藤についてお話ししました。
そして今回は、その答えを探すために実際にオランダへ“下見”に行った時の話です。
今回の旅は、普通の観光旅行とは少し違いました。
テーマは「楽しむ」ではなく、「ここで生活できるか確かめること」。

オランダ移住という選択肢が現実的に見えてきたとき、私が直面したのは「夢」ではなく、とてもシンプルで重たい現実でした。
それは、「今やっている仕事をどうするのか」という問題です。
当時の私は、名古屋で雑貨屋とカフェを経営していました。
カフェは家族に任せられるとしても、雑貨屋は完全に自分一人で回している状態。
つまり、海外に行く＝お店を辞める、という構図でした。
ビジネスとして考えれば、辞めるのが一番合理的だったと思います。
