Het initiatief en het concept zijn indrukwekkend, en er zijn zeer boeiende en deskundige sprekers uitgenodigd. Helaas lieten de interviewers meerdere waardevolle momenten voorbijgaan zonder erop in te gaan. Regelmatig werd iets persoonlijks of intiems gedeeld door een spreker, maar in plaats van daar respectvol bij stil te staan of door te vragen, werd er overheen gepraat.

Het zou de interviewer sieren en het luistergenot bevorderen als de interviewer niet dwars door de gast heen zou spreken. Het is storend om naar te luisteren. Interviewen is meer dan continu je eigen stem te laten horen.

Er komen interessante en diverse onderwerpen aan bod. Van wat algemenere onderwerpen naar wat meer uniekere en specifieke, van lokaal naar iets globaal. Ik leer op een laagdrempelige maar toch altijd wel met een wetenschappelijke, maar ook open en altijd wel een kritische blik iets over Afrika te weten. Mijn vaste routine als ik de bus neem voor werk. Ik gun en wens jullie het beste.

Luisterend naar de Africast hoor ik te vaak een global north perspectief in met name de vraagstelling aan experts (die krijgen van mij wel 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, met een bepaalde vooringenomenheid en verwachting over de antwoorden die gegeven gaan worden. Dat leidt tot een gechargeerd antwoord in de richting die de Africast graag wil horen. Er wordt vaak onvoldoende doorgevraagd en te weinig gesproken over andere perspectieven.
