I don’t normally enjoy single presenter podcasts, preferring to listen to a conversation, but there is something about Ryan’s easygoing delivery that draws me in. He is very articulate and insightful about a variety of approaches to cubing. His brief digressions into other issues mark him out as a good person as well as a good communicator.
Really enjoying this pod so far. Each episode is a masterclass in cube design. Ryan is thoughtful and considers multiple angles when discussing his decisions .
Loved this episode! I played Big Red during standard and I played a single copy in the deck just in case. It ended up under a Chrome Mox more than it hit players. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I also drafted a Jitte at the BoK prerelease P1P1. Don’t remember if I got to play it though.
It’s so great to hear you podcasting again 😊 I loved this ep and I’m looking forward to more!!

The show centers on Magic: The Gathering cube design, with the host exploring legacy cards, archetypes, and drafting experiences through solo commentary and in-depth design thinking. Episodes frequently dissect power levels, color archetypes, and the interplay between nostalgia and practicality, often tying cube concepts to broader constructed trends. Notable throughlines include how classic cards shape cube strategy, the balance between power and accessibility, and community-driven events and conversations that anchor cube culture. A consistent thread is a design-first mindset tempered by storytelling and personal anecdotes from a dedicated community of cube builders and players.
